Achieving the perfect base with a dewy finish and a bit of colour is what I call my everyday makeup look. Being 26, I’ve had my fair share of playing with makeup over the years. Different skin problems, ageing, and my skin type changing. I love to mix up my makeup and pop in some colour which tends to go alongside my problem for forever colouring my hair different standout shades. Above all, I make sure my base is perfect to cover up my insecurities, my highlight can be seen across the street and my eyeliner tends to exaggerate every year on this planet. I wanted to show you my every day makeup routine and what I use on the daily currently.
To start with after my face is fully primed I used a mixture of the Revlon Colorstay Foundation and L’Oreal True Match Foundation. As it’s summer I’m currently on the fake tan train, so I tend to mix my foundations together to make the perfect colour depending on how my tan is fading. Revlon 200 Nude is my natural colour. L’Oreal True Match is a foundation I accidentally ordered in the wrong shade but has been the perfect mixer. It creates a satin finish and looks flawless and full coverage which is perfect for me. I suffer from rosacea and pigmentation so this is perfect for me.
Highlight and conceal.
As I tend to have a high coverage base without it looking cakey, it covers up pretty much every spot breakout and things I would like to hide an conceal. Instead, I use my trusty Lasting Perfection concealer from Collection in shade 01 to highlight my face. It helps to highlight and create depth to my face. I think it’s amazing for under the eyes and highlighting cheekbones. As well as highlighting my nose, chin and forehead. It’s super easy to blend with a sponge or a brush. However I find it works better under the eyes with a brush as it doesn’t soak up as much product helping to blend any dark circles.
At the moment I’m actually seeking new bronzers. I’m getting a bit bored of using the same things all the time and I’ve not found one that I’ve fallen in LOVE with. So any recommendations would be wonderful! Let me know below. For now, I use a mix between Seventeen’s Define and Conquer Contour Kit and Obsessions bronzer in Dark. Let me tell you, the obsession bronzer is no where near ‘Dark’. It just about bronzes my skin when I’m at my palest. However when mixed together creates a lovely bronzer.
There is nothing I love more than a vibrant bright highlighter. It’s my safety net in makeup and it makes me feel a million times better when it’s been applied. My favourite tool to apply it with is the Zoeva 105 Luxe Highlight brush. I bought this brush nearly 3 years ago and it’s still perfect. It helps to create the perfect blended highlight and I much prefer it to the fan brushes craze. I digress! This MUA highlighter in Pink Shimmer has been one of my favourite drugstore highlighters for years. I dip in and out of using it and it’s been lovely to use through Spring. With it being a cheap highlighter the packaging isn’t the greatest and this is the third of mine that the lid has just snapped off of. It’s such a beautiful highlight that I just can’t seem to step away no matter the practicality and really, can’t complain for it being £3!
For myself, I love nothing more than a bright colour to pop on my eyelids and make a look vamp up from natural to bold. The perfect palette that I’ve fallen in love with is the Revolution Re-Loaded Palette in Iconic Vitality. For an everyday colour I use the third from the left on the second row all over my lid, then the second from last on the bottom row in the crease. It just creates a lovely warm base without being dramatic. The bright pink shade in this palette? STUNNING.
Finishing The Eyes and Eyebrows.
My style over the years has changed constantly. The only thing that has stayed the exact same is that I wear winged eyeliner with every single look. I feel bare and a little bit naked without it. It’s so natural to me now that people look at me oddly if I don’t wear it. I love liquid eyeliners with tiny brush heads as I think it helps to create the most precise thin points at the tip of a wing. The NYX Vinyl Liquid Liner is a slighty shiny vibrant black eyeliner that stays put all day and doesn’t fade drastically or move around on the eyelid. It’s my current favourite and an incredible eyeliner. To finish the eyes I’ve been trying out the Total Temptation mascara from Maybelline and the reason I like this so much is the brush. The key to a great mascara is the brush especially with eyelashes like mine. They tend to stick out to the sides no matter how much I curl them. This is perfect for lengthening.
For the past 3 or 4 years I’ve stuck by Rimmel’s Brow This Way and it’s worked a treat for me. I use a mix between oo2 and oo3 for different tones for my eyebrows. So I can get a more defined and solid point at the edges, and more feathery towards the middle. It’s cheap as chips and it’s served me well and complimented me a many over the years.
Last but finally not least lipstick. As I’ve mentioned earlier, I tend to go for tones that suit me more, compared to more ‘natural’ looking makeup. It’s the way I’m programmed, I’m supposed to stand out a bit. I love nude lipsticks on guys and girls but for myself I get twitchy and break out something darker every time. This, is the perfect inbetween. It’s NYX’s Lip Lingerie in Embelishment. It’s a mid-deep purpley-pinky nude. It applies like a dream and wears really well, even when tested against chilli ramen. It’s my perfect go to colour and I need to buy a new one very soon as I sense it’s running low. I can’t get enough of it.
And there we have it! My current go to makeup look. It might be a lot for some, maybe not for others but it’s what is working for me right now and I find it so quick and easy to apply everything without panicking about being perfect. I’ve included some pictures below of the look, let me know what you think! Also don’t forget, if you have any bronzer recommendations let me know!
