My current skincare routine has been the same for the past couple of months as we braved through the harsh winter months. I’ve always had dry/normal skin combination with a little bit of cystic acne on my chin. I’ve tried a number of products and I’ve cut out those I didn’t find to be making a difference or working for me.
Personally I can’t stand doing skincare. It takes up so much time and I need things to be done as quick as possible. I find it to be such a mundane task but something that has got to be done in order to protect and maintain your skin’s current condition. So I have tried and tested a few products that I’ve now stuck to more than my mum drinking tea.
Firstly every day I wash my face using The Body Shop Tea Tree 3-in-1 Wash-Scrub-Mask. This helps to remove all the dirt and dead skin from my face leaving it feeling fresh faced and smelling great. It’s also great to use as a mask in your t-zone and for your pores, especially if you suffer with blackheads.
Next I use the La Roche-Posay Serozinc Toner spray on the bottom half of my face. As I suffer from cystic acne, I just use this spray on the bottom half of my face to target those blemishes. At first it brought more out but then it just started to work for me. Touch wood, but I haven’t had one for over two weeks which is a record for me this past year. It is more of a spray than a mist like it says, so I pat it into my skin afterwards to get it to soak quicker.
After everything is dried, I go in with the Dermologica Skin Smoothing Cream. Honestly, this cream is amazing. It’s the thing that makes me skin feels so moisturised and hydrated. It’s got a light scent to it but it isn’t too harsh. A little goes a long way and even with it’s hefty price tag it’s well worth the pounds. I use this when my skin feels it’s worst which is pretty much every other day. It lasts well if you use it sparingly.
If you don’t want to shed out your cash on the Dermologica Skin Smoothing Cream and a bit strapped for cash, another moisturiser I love is the Boots Baby Moisture Cream. Around the £1 mark, I discovered this cream for my daughter, but when I tried it on my skin I found it to actually work just as well on myself. It IS heavily scented but I don’t mind it personally, to each their own.
And the last thing I do in the morning is put on some Lip Butter. I’ve been loving this Shea Lip Butter from The Body Shop. It just helps my lips feel more nourished and helps when it comes to lipstick application! And that it is it for my morning prep. I don’t use a lot because I find these products to actually work on my skin and I use it all daily either if I’m wearing a face full of makeup or not. It just makes me feel better that my skin underneath is healthy. Normally it takes a couple of minutes to do my skincare and I shove it on whilst I’m waiting for my morning brew to cool down.
When it comes to nighttime, I try not to use too many products because my skin. I just want it to remove dirt and makeup and to make sure it’s nourished. Starting with The Body Shop Cream Cleanser. I’ve been using this a lot more recently as I just rub it into my skin and wash it off and it takes all my makeup off with it. It’s not drying unlike a lot of face cleansers and it smells lovely too.
If I want to scrub my face I will use the L’Oreal Pure Clay Glow Scrub. It really takes the dirt off well and exfoliates leaving my skin feeling squeaky clean especially around my nose. I find it works best if you wash it off with a flannel as there is a lot of grit to the product.
After everything has been applied and my skin is clean, I go back in with the Dermologia Skin Smoothing Cream. I gently massage it upwards on my face and it relaxes me ready for bed. With that, is the end of my daily skincare routine. There’s nothing too fancy but I’m sure everything will change now with the weather. It’s just my foolproof guide to great skin for someone who tends to have more dry skin.
