Over the past month I’ve been trialling the Makeup Revolution Re-Loaded palette in Iconic Vitality. I’ve put it to good use and tried to use as many of the colours as possible. Just to find out if it’s actually a good eyeshadow palette considering it’s price.
What really drawn me into this palette was the hot pink eyeshadow. After all the rage of warm eye looks the past couple of years, I’ve started to really enjoy bright eyeshadows like pink and yellow. I think they make such stunning pops of colour on the lid, and really vamp up a look. So that is exactly why I’m looking for the hot pink to be a winner.
First impressions off the bat, it’s not my favourite packaging. It looks okay, it’s not incredible but it’s not the worst I’ve ever seen. Next, I obviously went in for the leap for the pink eyeshadow. It swatches beautifully but when it comes to using it on the eye, it’s not quite as vibrant. I don’t have a flat eyeshadow packing brush (not exactly sure where mine have disappeared to) so I have been using my least fluffy brush to try and achieve the same effect.
Across the board I think it’s a decent palette. It’s not the best, and it’s certainly not the worst. There are quite a few chalky eyeshadows that are less pigmented than others. Also there are some that are creamier that are pigmented and some that aren’t. It’s a mix match but for £4 you really can’t argue with it.
If you were to get the Re-Loaded palette I would say get to know it and practise before jumping in on it for a night out. There are some shades that are lovlier than others such as the hot pink shadow, the very centre colour is the best transition shade, and the bottom row second to last shade is perfect for a warm eye look. There are some that are lacklustre such as the black shadow isn’t pigmented compared to a lot of others I’ve tried, the highlight shade on the top middle doesn’t show up when used with a brush.
I’ve took a couple of swatch pictures showing each row and how they look on my skin tone. The warmer shades are actually lovely to use and really compliment my skin and are easy to wear. The other colours I find tend to be a little bit on the muddy side and not my cup of tea. But, for £4 can you argue? Heck I’d pay that for just one shadow.
So what do you think? Would you buy the Makeup Revolution Re-Loaded Palette in Iconic Vitality knowing that not every colour is amazing? Or would you buy it regardless because of the price for a couple of great shades? Let me know what your thoughts are.
